Essar Shipping is reported to have offloaded one of its remaining elderly capesize bulkers for demolition in Pakistan.
It is said to have sold the 152,000-dwt Chandi Prasad (built 1989) for $390 per ldt, according to cash buyers GMS.
The Indian shipowner is expected to pick up around $7.3m from the sale of the 18,812-ldt vessel.
The Dubai-based shipbroker says the sale brings the coveted $400 per ldt mark “tantalizingly within reach of shipowners”.
