DryShips sold five of its panamax bulkers for $29.4m, including deals that saw George Economou take two of the ships.
The New York-listed owner said the private interests of its chief executive and largest shareholder bought the 75,200-dwt Amalfi (built 2009) and 74,800-dwt Samatan (built 2001).
Economou also took on the ships' associated debt.
Revolver increased
As part of the deal, he agreed to increase a revolving credit facility to the company to $75m from $5m, and he received an option to convert $7.5m
