Cosco Shipping is making a debut splash in the vehicle-carrier market as it snaps up a pair of ships from a related company.

The Chinese heavy-lift and general cargoship specialist is paying over $87m for the two units, at least one of which is still being built.

The two 5,000-unit pure car carriers (PCC) are being bought from parent Cosco Group, a filing to the Shanghai Stock Exchange from Cosco Shipping read on Thursday.
