The coronavirus pandemic is pushing ship operators to look for safe, reliable alternative bunkering locations.
Inchcape Shipping Services, which has been expanding its bunker and surveying operations this year as the pandemic has bitten, said Zhoushan in China is developing as a good location for bunkering due to its proximity to Ningbo and its clear regulatory guidelines on Covid-19.
“Zhoushan, Xiazhimen anchorage, is currently the only place in China for bunkering where port costs can be avoided,” said David Pratt, the agency group’s vice president for Asia Pacific marine services.
