A vessel used to transport the UK’s nuclear material is to be scrapped in Scotland after 33 years of service, its owners have confirmed.
The 3,865-dwt Oceanic Pintail (built 1987) will be recycled in Leith by Dales Marine Services, which emerged as the successful bidder for the contract.
The vessel’s owners – Cumbria-based International Nuclear Services (INS) – said 98% of the UK-flagged vessel will be recycled.
