Canada's Seaspan Ferries has contracted two new hybrid ro-paxes at Dutch shipyard group Damen.
The LNG/battery powered vessels will be built at the Mangalia shipyard in Romania, it said.
They will be delivered in 2021, joining two existing hybrid ships.
“Within their first two years of service, our existing LNG hybrid vessels have operated with emission reductions of over 50% compared to traditional vessels, a large part of which is directly linked to the use of LNG fuel" said Frank Butzelaar, CEO of Seaspan Marine Transportation.
