Officials say the 70,800-dwt Energy Champion (built 2005) was held in New Orleans, Louisiana for a deficiency related to the vessel’s fixed firefighting system.
The nature of the infraction may not come as a surprise since all eight of the ships listed on the US Coast Guard report were cited for similar fire safety violations.
