Sources says the 8,300-dwt Wilson Newport(built 2011) was on a voyage from Derince, Turkey to the Continent when it ranaground at full speed near St George Islet on Sunday.

Yesterday, the vessel was refloated bythe 4,800-bhp ocean-going salvage tugs Alexander 3(built 1990), Alexander 5 (built1991) and 2,700-bhp Ifestos 2 (built 1980).

All three are owned and operated by Vernicos Argonaftis of Greece, which was byhired hull underwriters to lead the operation, according to market sources.
