A Norwegian-owned bulk carrier came under attack off Somalia overnight but managed to evade capture.
Uglands Rederi’s 58,800-dwt Carmencita (built 2009) was assaulted by pirates in two skiffs some 250 miles north-east of the Yemeni island of Socotra.
No crew members were injured in the assault between 23:00 on Monday and 01:00 on Tuesday but a secure onboard citadel was on hand in case of a successful boarding.
