TOTE Maritime has reached settlement agreements with 21 of the 33 crew members on the sunken ro-ro El Faro.
The US shipowner, a subsidiary of Seattle conglomerate Saltchuk Group, has agreed to pay $500,000 for each wrongful death claim, bringing the total agreed so far to $10.5m plus unspecified economic losses.
The company's lawyers revealed the latest settlements in the US federal court in Jacksonville as part of litigation over the sinking.
