A product carrier controlled by affiliates of TMS Tankers and George Economou’s Cardiff Marine was one of eight vessels detained by the US Coast Guard (USCG) in the final weeks of 2011.
The 109,000-dwt Venice (built 2004), which trades in Heidmar’s Sigma aframax pool, was held by authorities in Grandview, Louisiana in December for deficiencies related to fire prevention systems, according to a US inspection report.
