A spokesman for Teekay Corp, New York-listed tanker owner’s parent, tells TradeWinds the vessel arrived in Turku over the weekend with an escort comprised of two Estonian tugs.
According to local news outlets, Finnish authorities surrounded the ship with oil containment boom upon arrival as a precaution though no pollution has been reported.
The extent of the damage to the ship’s hull is unclear but Teekay said it will likely require “docking and steel work”, which means it may be out of commission for another week or even longer.
