A Thorco Projects-operated multi-purpose (MPP) heavy-lift ship was reported as disabled off the coast of Newfoundland, according to the Canadian Coast Guard.
The 10,500-dwt Thorco Crown (built 2004) is reported as disabled 32 nautical miles (59 kilometres) off Port Aux Basques. The Canadian Coast Guard has sent the ice breaker Sir William Alexander to monitor the vessel.
There is no immediate threat to the crew or to the environment, the Coast Guard said in a statement.
