A Team Tankers chemical tanker has been refloated off Uruguay, a National Navy spokesman said Monday.
The Oslo-listed shipowner's 44,600-dwt Siteam Anja (built 1997) had been stuck off Isla de Lobos since 18 May,
Navy spokesman Gaston Jaunsolo said the ship was removed from the island "without incident" after a lightering operation started on Saturday.
"The manoeuvre ended Sunday, with the removal of some 12,000 tonnes of vegoil and then the emptying of saltwater that had entered [the ship]," he told broadcaster Informativo Sarandi, according to a report on news website Montevideo Portal.
