A Syrian-operated bulk carrier has been hijacked in the Arabian Sea close to where a Greek panamax was also assaulted on Thursday.
Pirates clambered onboard the 24,000-dwt Khaled Muhieddine K (built 1981) and started shooting in the early afternoon.
Although the Togo-flagged handysize had yet to be independently confirmed as pirated by Thursday evening, one informed source had told TradeWinds it was “almost certain” that it had been seized.
