The outlook for the South of England Protection and Indemnity Association is looking distinctly bleak following the appointment of provisional liquidators.

The Bermuda Monetary Authority has restricted the writing of any new or renewal business by the club and petitioned the Bermuda supreme court to appoint liquidators.

There is some possibility that the South of England Club will be able to work through its difficulties which include collecting a $31m cash call from owners of up to 800 vessels.
