Former International Maritime Organization (IMO) secretary-general Koji Sekimizu has been awarded the International Maritime Award.
The IMO said the award was given in recognition of his “contribution to the work of the IMO over many years”.
Sekimizu was nominated for the award by Japan, which had also nominated him when he won election to the position of secretary-general in 2012.
