The 165,234-cbf Green Atlantic (built 1985) suffered engine failure on 2 March south of Tennholman, local media reported.
It was drifting towards shallower waters as a pilot boat was sent from Lodingen.
The boat took the ship under tow while crew fixed the engine.
Green Atlantic was later able to resume its voyage.
The reefer is operated by Norfos Shipping of Tallinn.
