The safety certificate of the 4,790-gt Trans-Asia 5 (built 1989) has been suspended by the country’s Maritime Industry Authority.
The move means that the vessel operated by Trans-Asia Shipping Lines will have to be repaired and inspected before it is allowed to return to trade.
The aging vessel is described as the biggest newest and most luxurious vessel in its fleet by Trans-Asia Shipping Lines.
