The 1,600-car-capacity Trans Future 2 (built 1999) lost manoeuvrabilitywhile approaching the port of Muara, the Brunei Times reported.
The ministry of communications said the vessel was carrying imported vehicleswhen the accident occurred on Monday morning.
Structuraldamage was caused to one of the navy ships berthed at the navy jetty.
The car carrier is operated by Kagoshima Senpaku.
