Crews of UK linked merchant ships that go to Libya will get double their basic pay and further benefits following the area being declared a warlike operations area.
An agreement has been reached between the British Chamber of Shipping and unions representing officers and crew that recognises that waters up to 24 miles off the Libyan coast could be affected by military activity.
