Reports that an NYK-owned VLCC was target by pirates off India earlier this month have proved false, TradeWinds has learnt.
On 13 November the 302,200-dwt Tosa (built 2008) was sailing some 194nm southwest of Goa in India when it was approached by what were described as “two skiffs”.
Initial reports of the incident said that a “mother boat with two skiffs picked up speed towards the Tosa on a collision course”.
