Three survivors have been rescued after a Chinese bulker sank off Taiwan with initial reports pointing to a sudden ingress of water into the engine room.
The body of one crew member of the 56,800-dwt Nasco Diamond (built 2009) was also recovered while 21 others remain missing, according to Japanese and Chinese officials.
One of the three men located by Japan’s Coastguard on Thursday is understood to be in a critical condition.
