A mini-bulker has run aground off the coast of Mumbai in India.

The fore section of the 2,900-dwt Kumar (built 1994) was partially submerged on Friday, the Indian Express said.

A coast guard helicopter went to the scene carrying pumps.

Crew members are safe and the vessel, operated by JSW Steel Salav, is not significantly damaged.

The coast guard asked all masters in the region to prepare well for voyages during the Indian monsoon season.
