A Russia-flagged tanker has caught fire in the Caspian Sea and the chief mechanic of the vessel is missing.
The ministry of emergency situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan said an SOS signal was sent from the 2,858-dwt Palflot-2 (built 1982), which was moving without cargo in the direction of Alaja in Turkmenistan.
When the fire occurred, the vessel was around 110km off the coast.
