The Mangkhut typhoon that barreled into Hong Kong Sunday with 120-mile-per-hour winds and torrents of rain has subsided into an area of low pressure over mainland China.
The Chinese shipping hub's government on Monday evening in Hong Kong said the storm diminished to "an area of low pressure" and showed it over the inland district of Qiannan.
"No further warnings on this area of low pressure will be issued by the Hong Kong Observatory unless regeneration takes place," authorities said.
