Spartan Offshore Drilling has filed a US lawsuit aiming to arrest a MACS Maritime Carrier Shipping general cargoship after it struck a drilling rig off Louisiana.
The US drilling contractor and its insurers filed the litigation in the US federal court in Houston seeking $7.82m in damages tied to the 2014 incident, which involved MACS's 33,600-dwt Grey Fox (built 1998).
The lawsuit also targets Connecticut tug operator Moran Towing, whose vessels were assisting the general cargoship at the time of the casualty.
