A Team Tankers ship that ran aground off Uruguay's coast will be lightered before it can be refloated, Uruguay's National Navy said Monday.
But authorities said the salvage operation has begun to make preparations to bring the 44,600-dwt chemical and products tanker Siteam Anja (built 1997) off the rocks of Isla de Lobos.
The 5,700-dwt chemical tanker Sealion (built 2009) will be used to remove slops and oily waste "produced as a result of the accident".
