India has hit a shipowner with an INR 1bn ($15m) fine after a bulker sank in 2011, causing an oil spill.
The 64,000-dwt Rak (built 1984) went down off Gujarat while en route from Indonesia to Dahej.
The national green tribunal (NGT) slapped the fine for damages on Panama's Delta Shipping Marine Services and two Qatar-based sister operations Delta Navigation WLL and Delta Group International, the Hindu daily reported.
