Crane damage caused by Japan’s devastating earthquake last week has shut some terminals in Tokyo, Hapag-Lloyd reported.
The German shipowner said, however, that its operations in the country have been “largely unaffected” by Friday’s huge earthquake which caused a tsunami to destroy large parts of Japan’s north-east.
“Some terminals in Tokyo currently are closed for inspection of terminal facilities and equipment. Port cranes had been damaged with repair works currently underway,” the Hamburg-based company said.
