A grounded boxship sold for scrap by Djakarta Lloyd has sunk off Myanmar.

The 1,644-teu containership Sam Ratulangi (built 2001) hit the headlines in mainstream media as a "ghost ship" after it drifted ashore at the end of August near Thongwa as it was being towed to a shipbreakers in Bangladesh.

It went down on Wednesday, according to the Myanmar Times.
