A Greek-managed bulk carrier has fallen victim to pirates in a New Year’s Day assault off Oman.
The 20,600-dwt Blida (built 1978) was taken in the afternoon about 150 miles south-east of the port of Salalah, counter-piracy force EU NAVFOR wrote in a statement.
There are 27 crew members onboard the Algerian-owned handysize but there are no reports of their welfare. The crew is comprised of Algerians, Ukrainians and Filipinos.
