Ship scrapping at the Gadani ship breaking yards has been suspended in the wake of the recent tanker explosion, TradeWinds understands.
The deputy commissioner for the Lasbela district of Pakistan has taken the decision following the incident which claimed the lives of sixteen workers.
Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah Hashmi said he was imposing the ban under section 6 of Section 144 of Pakistan’s Code of Criminal Procedure 1898.
