A German boxship suffered minor damage after an armed pirate assault off East Africa on Thursday, TradeWinds has learned.
Up to 12 pirates were involved in the attack on the 2,496-teu Safmarine Zambezi (built 2002) off Tanzania in the early morning.
There were no injuries to the unspecified number of crew onboard the Liberia-flagged vessel which is owned by ER Schiffahrt GmbH & Cie.
