TheUS Coast Guard tells TradeWinds that the 36,300-dwt Federal Kivalina (built2000) was still disabled and blocking traffic as of Wednesday evening.
Officialssaid there appears to be damage to the vessel’s port bow but were quick topoint out that the ship is “stable” and noted no injuries or pollution havebeen reported.
Atleast five vessels were awaiting permission to pass the disabled bulker as oflast night but the size of the current queue, which is unlikely to shrink untilthe unit is freed, isn’t clear.
