A Euroseas-owned bulker hijacked by Somali pirates seven months ago is nearing freedom after a ransom was paid, TradeWinds understands.
The release of the 72,100-dwt Eleni P and its crew of 23 appears imminent on Friday afternoon as pirates count the unspecified amount of cash.
A ransom was due to be airdropped onto the 1997-built panamax some time between Thursday and Friday with an informed source saying this has now been done.
