Lawyers representing the widow of a US dockworker who died on an NYK Reefers ship are opposing an effort by the shipowner to secure a judgment in its favour before trial.

Wil Florin, the Florin Roebig attorney representing Antoinette Dixon, argues that key facts remain in dispute, which would prevent the summary judgment.

Dixon is suing the subsidiary of Japan's Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line) over the death of her husband, Robert Dixon, while he was unloading the 485,000-cbf reefer Wild Lotus (built 1998) at Florida's Port Manatee.
