A Fratelli D'Amato tanker has been hijacked by pirates following an armed raid in the Indian Ocean on Tuesday morning, TradeWinds has learned.
The 104,300-dwt Savina Caylyn (built 2008) was subjected to a sustained assault involving four rocket-propelled grenades west of India at around 04:30 UTC.
Five pirates in one skiff opened fire on the Italy-flagged products tanker with small arms and RPGs before clambering onboard.
