All 16 seafarers have been rescued after their general cargoship sank off Indonesia on Tuesday.
The 900-dwt Tirta Amarta (built 1987) had left Gresik on Saturday with a cargo of phosphate.
Chief engineer Zen Gafuar, 29, told Tribun News that water started to enter the engine room on Sunday.
Crew tried to pump it out, but could not control the ingress.
