A serious blaze on a livestock carrier spread more quickly because doors were left open, an Australian safety report has found.

The 13,500-dwt Singapore-flagged Ocean Drover (built 2002), owned by Wellard Ships, caught fire on 9 October, 2014, at Fremantle.

The Australian Transport Safety Board (ATSB) said the blaze started in a centrally located forward cabin on the upper deck, but the intensity and severity of the damage made it impossible to identify an exact point of origin or source.
