Costamare is the latest heavyweight in the containership market to publicly sway away from scrubbers to meet incoming emissions laws.

Maersk Line and Hapag-Lloyd have both previously placed other technology over the use of scrubbers with new sulphur emissions laws creeping closer to implementation.

Greg Zikos, chief financial officer of Costamare, says the company has looked at various options and based on current circumstances would not opt for a scrubber solution.
