Several ships have been the victims of laser strikes in the Chesapeake Bay, raising risks for shipping in the busy waterway, the US Coast Guard said.

Yesterday alone, three commercial ships and a pilot boat were hit by lasers, following three reports of merchant vessels struck since 7 April.
