A cargoship has caused significant damage to a Cayman Islands coral reef after grounding.
Officials from the department of environment told the Cayman Compass newspaper that the 3,800-dwt multipurpose Saga (built 2001) got stuck on Friday off George Town.
Deputy director Scott Slaybaugh said the accident happened around 6am when the vessel was leaving port.
The hull made contact with the coral, he added.
