According to the US Coast Guard the waterwayreopened late Thursday evening following the removal of Fednav’s 36,300-dwtFederal Kivalina(built 2000).
“Themotor vessel Federal Kivalina was removed from its resting spot near theThousand Island Bridge by a contracted salvage crew and two tugs from Montreal,”it said in a statement.
As we reported the Federal Kivalina lostpower and ran aground Tuesday afternoon, which caused the St Lawrence Seaway toclose for more than two days.
