A blast has hit a Greek bulker at a Brazilian port yesterday.
Authorities at Paranagua port in south-eastern Brazil said the incident took place on the 84,074-dwt Akaki (built 2013).
John Rakkas, chief executive of Transmed Shipping, John Rakkas, confirmed the explosion to TradeWinds and explains nobody was injured as a result of the incident.
Akaki had loaded a cargo of Brazilian corn, which can increase the risk of such incidents after fumigation procedures, Rakkas explains.
