Giles Noakes, Bimco’s head of maritime security, has died.
The former Royal Marine passed away yesterday at the age of 62, Bimco said.
Noakes joined the shipowners’ association in 2008 and was particularly active in the development of best management practices for protection against Somali piracy.
He was also instrumental in the launch of Guardcon, Bimco’s contract for the employment of security guards on vessels.
