In the latest issue of the North of England P&I Club’s loss prevention newsletter members are urged to “check their new ships very carefully” before the hand-off is sealed.
The organisation claims it has "become aware" of “several instances of poor construction that are potentially dangerous in the newbuilding market”.
Tony Baker, the head of the club’s loss prevention department, said partially completed cargo hold ladders are an example of a recurring problem with some freshly-minted ships.
