A key ruling in an important legal battle over a collision 12 years ago between a tanker and a jetty at a Sicilian refinery has gone in Frontline’s favour.

A London high court judge has ruled that arbitrators are entitled to award damages in the latest of many judgments over dock damage by the 142,000-dwt Front Comor (built 1993).

The Front Comor case is being widely watched in legal circles as it involves use of the “Italian torpedo” and may lead to changes in the rules relating to action in differing legal jurisdictions.

The Front Comor is now the heavy lift ship Talisman.
