A UAE-owned tanker came under fire from pirates off the coast of Somalia on Tuesday but managed to avoid hijack, TradeWinds has learned.
It was a lucky escape for the owner of the 7,070-dwt Dafne (built 1981) which has previously had one of its ships hijacked in the region and another assaulted earlier this year.
Pirates in two skiffs set upon the Sierra Leone-flagged products tanker late on Tuesday as it was en route to Mogadishu.
