Greek minister of maritime affairs Yiannis Plakiotakis has stressed that International Maritime Organization regulation is the best route to enacting global rules to cut emissions from shipping.
The statement came as the European Union plans to include shipping in an emissions trading system (ETS), which he described as a “visionary approach” to sustainable policies that Greece supported but that is not the best way forward for the global shipping industry.
